After teaching himself guitar at the age of 12, Chris Castaneda taught his younger brother John how to play drums and his dad Tony how to play bass. They formed a blues power trio called Pride & Joy and the rest is history. Pride & Joy enjoyed great success and ended up touring nationally for more than 20+ years.

Eventually leaving his hometown of Waco Tx, Chris moved to Austin and formed The Chris Castaneda Project while P&J took a well deserved hiatus from the music industry and constant touring. The Castaneda Project is a mix of hard funk, soul, r&b, and of course Chris’ blues foundation which is ever present in all of his music. Known for their genre defying set lists, the bands eclectic sound has led them to become a staple in the music scene in Austin Tx and surrounding areas.

Now residing in Houston Tx, Chris is working on his 9th album to date. Always gigging throughout the week in the area, he is always seeking out the best musicians, music lovers and venues that support the live music scene.
